Pedestrian killed crossing Maple in Birmingham early Tuesday morning

A 30-year-old Birmingham man is dead after police say he was hit by a car early Tuesday morning.
According a news release sent out by the city, the man was crossing Maple Road west of Coolidge Highway in Birmingham at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver, a 60-year-old Bloomfield Hills woman, called 911 and informed dispatchers she had struck the man crossing the road while she had a green light going westbound at the intersection.
When police arrived, they found the man laying in the roadway. Officials said he died at the scene. The South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team was called to investigate the incident.
